Answers to common questions about photographing a Sudoku, receiving hints and correcting possible errors.
How do I get the best photo?
Place the Sudoku on a flat surface with good, even lighting. Keep the full 9×9 grid inside the camera square and avoid shadows, reflections and steep angles.
Can Sudoku Hint read handwritten numbers?
Yes. The app is designed for paper Sudokus and attempts to distinguish the original printed clues from handwritten entries.
Can I use it only to find mistakes?
Yes. Enable the option to look only for errors. The app will then focus on likely incorrect entries instead of suggesting a new number.
Why can the app misread a number?
The image is analysed using AI. Unclear handwriting, poor lighting or an incomplete grid can cause mistakes. Compare each result with the photographed Sudoku.
What happens when I press “Give hint” repeatedly?
The app cycles through available hints for the same photographed Sudoku. Each request uses one hint, including a result that reports no error or no available hint.
Does the app contain advertisements?
No. Sudoku Hint is advertisement-free.
How are hints purchased?
The app includes a small number of free hints. Additional hint packages can be purchased through Apple’s in-app purchase system.
I purchased hints but they are not shown.
Close and reopen the app and confirm that the iPhone has an internet connection. If the balance is still incorrect, contact support and include the approximate purchase time and the app build number shown at the bottom of the screen. Do not send payment-card details.
